RGA Player & Parent Code of Conduct:
PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
The following standards apply at any RGA training, camp, clinic, or other event (a
“Session”):
1. Players will display self-control in all situations and will not use foul or abusive
language at any time.
2. Players will train and play to the best of their abilities, have a positive attitude and
encourage others to do the same. Players will not make negative comments about
themselves or other players.
3. Players will show respect towards the coaches, referees, volunteers, vendors, staff
and other players. This includes players arriving early enough that they are ready to
begin (cleats tied) at the beginning of the Session.
4. Players are expected to wear the appropriate training gear, including goalkeeper
gloves, cleats, RGA training shirts, and any necessary cold-weather gear. Participants
may be denied participation if they fail to do so.
5. Soccer is a team sport. During any RGA Session, the other players are your
teammates. Players are expected to demonstrate a “team player” mentality in Sessions.
Players will model grace, respect, dignity, and composure, as well as appropriate
behavior, language and discussion with other players. Players will not act in any way
that disrupts the learning and training experience of other players.
6. Players will respect the diversity of other players, coaches, and staff and will not
engage in discrimination of any kind on any basis, including but not limited to race, sex,
or religion.
7. Players will not engage in bullying, physical violence, verbal threats, personal abuse,
or harassment of others, whether verbal, physical, emotional or sexual, and will report
any such abuse or harassment to RGA immediately.
8. Players participating in any residential camp are subject to this Code of Conduct
throughout their residence at any hotel or other lodging. For the avoidance of doubt,
players will observe all curfews and similar instructions and will refrain from any
inappropriate touching or other inappropriate contact with any other player (or the
appearance of such inappropriate contact), whether or not consensual.
9. Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in RGA asking a player to leave any
Session, as well as dismissal from RGA’s program and exclusion of the player from all
future Sessions.
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
The following standards apply at any RGA training, camp, clinic, or other event (a
“Session”):
1. Parents, guardians, and other adults providing similar functions temporarily for a
player (together, “Parents”) are prohibited from engaging in any physical abuse,
obscenity, aggressive behavior, or threats to other parents, players, coaches,
volunteers, staff and/or vendors, whether in person, by phone, or electronically.
2. Parents are not allowed to attend some Sessions due to security and safety
concerns. Any restrictions will be communicated in advance and Parents are expected
to abide by them. When Parents are permitted to attend, they must maintain a 50-yard
distance from the field and allow the coaches to coach.
3. RGA’s coaches have received training from the U.S. Center for SafeSport®. We
strive to abide by the SafeSport® Code of Conduct at all times. While we acknowledge
that SafeSport® does not directly govern parents, Parents are nevertheless expected to
abide by the spirit of SafeSport® in all interactions with players, coaches, volunteers,
and vendors. For more information, visit https://uscenterforsafesport.org/response-and-
resolution/safesport-code/
4. RGA staff exercise their professional judgment and discretion in training players. This
includes evaluating the current skill level of each player and assigning each player to a
training group consistent with his or her age and skill level. RGA staff will adjust group
assignments when they deem appropriate in their professional judgment and discretion.
Parents are expected to abide by and respect RGA’s judgment and discretion. Parents
will not demand or make persistent inquiries about a player being advanced to a higher
level. Our goal is that each player advance, and we have neither the incentive nor the
desire to hold a player back if we genuinely believe the player is ready to advance.
5. Parents will let coaches coach and will refrain from giving players advice or
instructions during Sessions.
6. Absences
a. Sessions other than Camps: Parents will give a minimum of 2 hours’ advance notice
of any absence from any Session due to illness, and a minimum of 24 hours’ advance
notice of any absence from any Session for any reason other than illness. RGA
Sessions are intentionally limited in size to maintain player/coach ratios. Failure to give
required notice will result in RGA charging the fee for the Session in question and/or
retaining the credit utilized to reserve such Session.
b. Camps: Because RGA incurs significant expense to employ numerous coaches
during camps, camp registration fees are not refundable for illness or other absence.
RGA may, in its discretion, choose to refund fees on a case-by-case basis and subject
to any conditions that RGA may impose, such as a doctor’s note.37. Parents will make sure their player arrives early enough that the player is ready to
begin (cleats tied) at the appointed time for the Session. Late arrivals are disruptive to
coaches and punctual players. Parents are not entitled to a credit or an extension of the
Session end time for any late arrival.
8. Parents will honor a 24-hour cool-down period before raising any negative soccer-
related concern (other than player safety). Negative comments should never be directed
in public toward any player, coach, or parent.
9. Parents will respect the cultural diversity of RGA’s players, coaches, and volunteers,
and will refrain from any discriminatory behavior based on race, sex, religion, or any
other legally protected classification.
10. Parents will refrain from communicating with RGA coaches and staff on personal
matters, including text messages and social media direct messages.
11. Parents will refrain from all manners of personal abuse and harassment of any
player, coach, staff member, or other Parent, whether in-person or electronic, and
whether physical, psychological, sexual, or otherwise. Parents will notify RGA
immediately if they observe abuse or harassment from any other player, Parent, coach,
or staff member.
12. Parents will refrain from using or possessing alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons while
attending Sessions. RGA coaches may be mandated reporters under applicable state
law and therefore may need to notify appropriate authorities in the event a parent is
intoxicated or under the influence at any Session.
13. Sessions may run past the allotted time. If a child needs to leave a Session early or
promptly at the scheduled end time, Parents may approach the Session discreetly to
retrieve their child. In the event of an early departure, parents must notify RGA before
the Session begins.
14. Parents will review the Player Code of Conduct with their player. Any violation of the
respective Code of Conduct by a Parent or player may result in a Parent and/or player
being dismissed from any training, camp, clinic, or event, and may result in the
termination of the player’s relationship with RGA and the exclusion of the player from all
future trainings, camps, clinics, or events. RGA reserves the right to refuse service to
any Parent or player at any time for any reason in RGA’s sole discretion to the fullest
extent permitted by law.
