What to expect at your first session

Here is what to expect at your first training session. Upon arrival we will take a few minutes to get to know you and have you fill out a couple of liability forms.

Your first session is a training and evaluation session. We will be reviewing and running you or your goalkeeper through multiple foundational based technical and game like drills. This gives our staff an opportunity to assess where you are in your development as a goalkeeper. We try not to correct more than 2-3 areas of focus so that you or your goalkeeper are not overwhelmed.

This session will be hard but you will learn a lot! And it will give our staff a baseline of what you know and what you need to improve on. After the session we will notate your account and create a plan with our staff to help you develop. We may also recommend a specific training group that you would be a good fit for based on your age and skill level.

In addition you will be emailed an online form for you or your goalkeeper to complete. We ask that this is completed by the Goalkeepers and NOT the Parents. Parents may assist younger GKs if needed. This form includes questions about your goals and strengths/weaknesses, etc. We want to mentor you and help you reach your goals. We will schedule a 30-minute follow-up Zoom meeting to go over your goals and help you plan your training development pathway with RGA.

Locations, what to Bring, & More

Event Location:
SOCA South Fork Training Facility
1685 Polo Grounds Road
Charlottesville, VA 22911

What to Bring and Wear:Please bring your soccer ball,  Goalkeeper Gloves, cleats, shin guards (not a  requirement unless contact play is occurring), and a goalkeeper long sleeve jersey (for diving and 1v1s).

It is recommended that Goalkeepers should wear appropriate soccer clothing such as, a t-shirt and soccer shorts. Tank tops are NOT appropriate training attire.

IMPORTANT! Bring YOUR LUNCH, PLENTY of water, electrolytes, and sunscreen.

*
Coaches are NOT allowed to apply sunscreen. Players must do this themselves.

Don't forget a great attitude, work ethic and YOU!

Parents & Spectators:

Parents and spectators are allowed to watch from a 50 yard distance from the Field in the parking lot. DO NOT COACH from the sidelines or spectate from the sidelines. Those who violate this policy will be asked to take their GK and leave. This is strictly enforced!

If parents and/or spectators become a distraction to the staff or players during the camp they will be asked to leave the field and not return until the end of the camp. This will be strictly enforced with a zero tolerance policy. We ask all parents and spectators to limit video recording while training is going on.

On Wednesday ONLY, parents may come on to the field at 12:30 PM-1:00 PM for our end of camp Team Keeper Wars Playoff and Closing Awards and Announcements.

Check In & Drop Off:All vehicles will park in the parking lot. Look for the tents. Check in is at the table under the tents.

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early. We are starting sessions promptly at 9am.

Parents may walk-up with their goalkeepers to the tents for check-in on Day 1. Goalkeepers may check themselves in the following days of camp.

Group Placement and Movement:
ALL Goalkeepers are grouped by age and skill. Goalkeepers will be evaluated and moved between groups daily as coaches and our Director of Goalkeeping sees best. Some may not move due to being with the group that suits them best for their current age and skill level.

We ask that parents and players have patience with our process and trust our decision making and refrain from emailing or calling to ask for their Goalkeeper to be moved groups.

We understand that you're advocating for your goalkeeper, however, please keep in mind each skill level and group demands a certain accountability and standards that your GK may not be consistent with at the time of camp and/or during camp.

Parents and Spectators (COVID)

Parents or family members who are symptomatic or sick are asked not to come to the camp. If you are healthy and choose to watch from the benches we ask that you socially distance yourself 6ft from other parents.

If you have tested positive, been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, or are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms:
